My Teaching Philosophy
MYLENE IS GREAT!
Master Your Lesson. Everyone
Needs Education.
I – Inspiration
& Interaction
·
Inspiration:
I strive hard to be an inspiration to my students by being a learner
that is constantly updated in the knowledge of information
technology, the subject I am teaching. I am inspired to teach whenever my
students learn something from my lessons.
·
Interaction: I interact with my students, not only
pertaining to the subjects but also to their personal problems.
S – Success &
Service
·
Success: I feel success when I see my students succeed
in their career. I know that I am part
of their achievements.
·
Service: As a teacher, it is my duty to serve the students, the parents, the community, and the country. Thus, I am dedicated and committed to
learning and teaching to make a bright future for all my students.
G – God,
Guidance, & Goal
·
God: I am very grateful to God for giving me the
opportunity to be a teacher and I am proud of it. I believe a good teacher has
a powerful faith in the future. My calling is to plant and nurture seeds that
will grow and shape tomorrow.
·
Guidance:
I need guidance from God in everything I do inside the classroom because
I will act as a second parent to all my students. As such, I must guide them not only in their
studies but also in their journey to life.
·
Goal: My goal is to see my students become successful
in their chosen careers with fear to God.
R – Relationship,
Role Model, Respect, Reflection
·
Relationship:
I apply the entity concept of accounting in my relationship with my
students. Entity concept states that the
business should be treated as separate entity from the owner of the business. In my classroom, my personal problem doesn’t
affect my teaching. In other words, I
act the role of a teacher inside the classroom and act other roles when I am
not in the classroom.
·
Role Model:
I should be a role model to my students
so I have to “walk my talk.” Whatever I
teach, I should practice. Since I am
teaching internal control, so I have to show to them that I always follow the
school’s policy and procedure. That’s
why I always wear my ID inside the school campus. I am confident that students learn
best by my example.
·
Respect: I wear the proper dress code when I conduct
my class because I want to earn the respect of my students and because I treat
my students special that they deserve a teacher who is presentable. I treat my students with respect, creating an
environment where students feel at peace and safe to discuss topics.
·
Reflection: To fully appreciate experiential
learning there must be space for reflection through formal reflective essays or
less formal class discussion.
E – Engage, Environment,
& Experience
·
Engage: Students should be actively engaged in the
learning process. I incorporate hands-on learning by assigning them group projects and
individual project that engage and activate students learning.
·
Environment: I strive to provide an environment where
students feel comfortable in expressing their needs and opinions.
·
Experience:
My interest in teaching comes from a love of learning. I believe that the best teachers are those
that never stop learning. My many years
of experience in teaching taught me that my missions as a teacher is to share
my knowledge to my students, to teach them the right attitude, and to instill
to them the skills needed to be an accountant and auditor. Being a CPA and a Doctor of Business
Administration, a graduate of Computer Course, my experience in business, and
my work experience as an accounting clerk, accounting head, and a finance
officer, I believe I am an expert in the field of accounting, auditing, business,
finance, and information technology.
A – Attitude
·
Attitude:
I have a positive attitude to all my undertakings. With an open mind. I must be firm, fair, and
flexible: Firm, because I have to enforce my rules and requirements; Fair,
because of the diverse culture; and Flexible, because there are situations
beyond my control.
T – Treasure
& Time
·
Treasure: My treasures are my relationship with God, my
family and relatives, my students, my colleagues and friends, my knowledge and
skills, my experience, and my body.
Time: My
motto in life is “Time is gold, so spend quality time with your loved ones,
enjoy life, and have fun.” Thus, I
always see to it that I have memories to look back with my students by having
class pictures at the end of the semester, enjoying the last moment
